CPU (68k) Over Clocking Chart

Cpu Over clocking Setting Resulting Frequency
040/25 ??? ???
040/40 ??? ???
060/50 ??? ???
*** Beware *** Over clocking can be a very dangerous process. I would strongly recommend purchasing a CPU fan. I will list various compatible CPU fans, sources and prices ASAP.

Well, here's what I think your CPU over clocking table should look like:

CPU                  Rated Speed      Max. Speed      Cooling Needed

M68LC040       20MHz                25MHz              Heatsink
M68040RC       25MHz                33MHz              Fan, Heatsink
M68LC040       25MHz                33MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68040          25MHz                40MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68040          33MHz                40MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68040          40MHz                50MHz              Fan, Heatsink, Peltier
XC68060          50MHz                60MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68LC060     50MHz                66MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68LC060     66MHz                75MHz              Fan, Heatsink
XC68060A       66MHz                75MHz              Fan, Heatsink, Peltier

These figures are based on practical experience, except for the EC060 and 060A ones, which are guesses based on the fab technology Motorola uses to build these processors. There are no figures for the EC040 and EC060 as I have a feeling these will work very slowly, if at all, under AmigaOS.

More information will be added as required. It is the eventual hope of the author to compile an extensive list of all cards and drivers to suit and to add maintain a  support for a driver database.
Reviews on the above cards and their performance will be added in due course. If you have any of the above cards and are using them on the Boxer system or have any card listed not here please contact the author to help maintain and update this listing.
